Our Approach to AI

At Parsley, we use artificial intelligence to help you grow your network, identify opportunities, and make data-driven decisions. From sales intelligence to team coaching - our AI features help you get more value from your Parsley profile.

We believe AI should be transparent, helpful, and user-controlled. You always decide when to use AI features, and you review all AI-generated content before taking action.

What AI We Use

Parsley uses Google AI services for generating insights and processing data:

  • Google Gemini: AI chatbot, lead scoring, and team insights

All AI features are accessed via secure APIs from Parsley's backend servers. Learn more about Google's AI principles at ai.google/responsibility/principles

Feature 1: AI Chatbot

Uses credits

The AI Chatbot allows visitors to your profile to ask questions and receive AI-generated answers based on documents you upload. This creates an interactive experience for prospects while capturing valuable intent signals.

How It Works

  • Document upload: You upload documents (PDFs, presentations, etc.) to create a knowledge base
  • Visitor questions: Visitors ask questions through the chatbot on your profile
  • AI answers: Gemini AI generates responses based on your uploaded documents

Analytics & Intelligence

Every conversation generates actionable insights:

  • Topic classification: Questions are automatically categorized (pricing, features, support, etc.)
  • Intent scoring: AI assesses buying intent based on question patterns
  • Lead enrichment: Conversation data enriches contact records in your leads
  • Knowledge gaps: Identifies questions your documents don't answer well
  • CRM sync: Conversation summaries sync to your connected CRM

Team Analytics

  • Per-rep chatbot engagement metrics
  • Team leaderboard for chatbot conversations
  • Aggregated topic trends across the organization

Data processed: Uploaded documents, visitor questions, AI-generated responses, conversation metadata (timestamps, topics, intent scores), anonymous visitor identifiers. See our Privacy Policy for details on chatbot data handling. See our Terms of Service for acceptable use guidelines.

Feature 2: Hot Leads AI

Uses credits

Hot Leads AI helps you identify your most engaged contacts and prioritize follow-up. When you view your leads dashboard, Gemini AI analyzes engagement patterns to provide:

  • Engagement scoring: Contacts ranked by profile views, link clicks, and form submissions
  • Intent analysis: High, medium, or low urgency levels based on engagement signals
  • Follow-up recommendations: Personalized suggestions for when and how to reach out
  • Contact headlines: AI-generated summaries like "High intent buyer - 3x average engagement"

Data processed: Contact names, company names, engagement scores, view counts, click patterns, days since collection. Results are cached for 7 days to reduce API costs.

Feature 3: Team Performance Insights

Teams tier (org admins only)

Team Performance Insights helps organization administrators identify coaching opportunities and optimize team networking performance. Gemini AI analyzes team-wide metrics to surface:

  • Performance gaps: Team members significantly below median (critical priority)
  • Conversion bottlenecks: Weak stages in the views → clicks → connections funnel
  • Momentum alerts: Recognition for top 10% performers
  • Coaching opportunities: Suggestions to pair underperformers with top performers

Data processed: Team member names, profile views, link clicks, form submissions, team median benchmarks. Results are cached for 7 days. Only org admins can access team insights.

What Data Is Processed

Across all AI features, we send the minimum data necessary to generate useful insights:

Chatbot-Specific Data

  • Documents you upload to your chatbot knowledge base
  • Visitor questions submitted through the chatbot
  • Conversation metadata (timestamps, session identifiers, topic classifications)
  • Anonymous visitor identifiers (not linked to personal information unless voluntarily provided)

What we do NOT send to AI:

  • Email addresses or phone numbers (yours or your contacts)
  • Payment information or billing details
  • Private messages or communications
  • Contact form message content (only metadata like submission count)
  • Any data you haven't explicitly shared on your public profile

Your Control & Consent

AI Features Are Opt-In

All AI-powered features are entirely optional. You choose when to generate insights by clicking the relevant button in your dashboard. AI does not run automatically in the background.

You Review Before Acting

All AI-generated content is displayed to you for review. You decide whether to:

  • Act on recommendations (AI suggests, you decide)
  • Save or download reports
  • Share insights externally
  • Refresh for updated insights (cached results shown by default)

Caching & Data Retention

To reduce API costs and improve performance, Hot Leads and Team Insights are cached for 7 days. You can manually refresh at any time. Generated reports are stored in your Parsley account until you delete them. Data sent to Gemini AI is processed in real-time and not retained by Google beyond report generation.

Chatbot retention: Chatbot conversations are retained for 90 days for analytics purposes. Documents you upload remain in your knowledge base until you delete them. You can delete individual conversations or your entire chatbot history at any time from your dashboard.

Agency-Managed Accounts

Where an organization’s account is managed by an agency, an authorized agency operator may configure the chatbot knowledge base and review AI-generated responses on the organization’s behalf, as that organization’s authorized representative. This does not change how the AI processes data: the model still answers only from the account’s own knowledge base, and the data-protection roles (your organization as controller, Parsley as processor, the agency acting on your authority) are described in our Privacy Policy.

Accuracy & Limitations

AI-Generated Content May Contain Errors

While Gemini AI is highly advanced, it is not perfect. AI-generated insights may occasionally:

  • Contain factual inaccuracies or misinterpretations
  • Provide generic recommendations that may not apply to your specific situation
  • Make projections that don't account for unexpected changes in behavior
  • Use language that is overly optimistic or imprecise

Feature-Specific Limitations

  • Lead insights: Engagement signals indicate interest, not guaranteed intent to purchase. Follow-up recommendations are suggestions, not instructions.
  • Team insights: Metrics show networking activity, not the full picture of performance. Use insights as conversation starters, not performance reviews.
  • AI Chatbot: Responses are generated based on your uploaded documents and may not cover all topics. The AI may occasionally misinterpret questions or provide incomplete answers. You should periodically review chatbot conversations to ensure accuracy and update your knowledge base as needed.

No Automated Decisions

AI does not make any automated decisions about you, your account, or your access to Parsley. Specifically:

  • AI does not determine pricing, account limits, or feature access
  • AI does not automatically contact leads or send outreach
  • AI does not moderate or filter user content
  • AI does not make decisions about account suspensions or terminations
  • AI does not make employment or performance decisions

AI is used solely to generate insights and recommendations that you review and act on at your discretion.

Human Oversight

Human oversight is built into every AI feature:

  • You review all insights: No AI-generated content triggers automatic actions - you decide what to do with recommendations
  • Team insights require admin review: Org admins review performance insights before any coaching conversations
  • We monitor AI outputs: Our team regularly reviews sample outputs to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Continuous improvement: We refine AI prompts based on user feedback and real-world results

Privacy & Data Handling

AI-related data processing is subject to our Privacy Policy. Key points:

  • Data minimization: We only send the minimum data necessary to generate reports
  • Secure transmission: All data sent to Gemini AI is encrypted in transit (HTTPS)
  • Third-party processing: Google processes data according to their AI data usage policies
  • No training on your data: Your data is not used to train Google's AI models (per Google AI Studio terms)
  • Your rights: You can request deletion of AI-generated reports at any time

Continuous Improvement

We continuously improve our AI features based on user feedback and advances in AI technology. Future enhancements may include:

  • Smart content suggestions for your profile
  • Natural language search within your contacts and analytics
  • AI-powered email signature generation
  • Enhanced CRM integration recommendations

Any new AI features will be clearly disclosed, and you'll always have control over whether to use them. We'll update this policy to reflect new capabilities as they launch.
